Terms of Use — Laws of Malta

Last updated: May 2026. Please read these Terms carefully before using the platform.

This site provides general legal information only — not legal advice. Your use of this platform does not create a lawyer-client relationship.

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using Laws of Malta (lawofmalta.com), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Use and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree with any part of them, you must not use this platform. We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. Continued use of the platform after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

2. Nature of Service

Laws of Malta is a general legal information platform for educational purposes. It is not a law firm and is not operated by warranted Maltese advocates. This site:

  • Provides summaries of Maltese legislation and court cases
  • Offers an AI assistant providing general legal information
  • Links to official sources (legislation.mt, justice.gov.mt, ecourts.gov.mt)
  • Does NOT provide legal advice, opinions, or legal representation

3. AI Disclosure — EU AI Act (Regulation 2024/1689)

In compliance with the EU AI Act, we disclose that:

  • The AI assistant is powered by Claude, a large language model developed by Anthropic, Inc.
  • You are interacting with an AI system — not a human
  • The AI may make mistakes, provide outdated information, or interpret the law incorrectly
  • AI responses must not be treated as authoritative legal advice
  • Always verify AI responses against official sources before acting on them
  • Your queries are sent to Anthropic to generate a response

4. Accuracy of Content

We endeavour to keep content up to date, however:

  • Maltese laws change frequently — content may not reflect the latest amendments
  • Summaries do not substitute the official text of the law
  • Always verify information at legislation.mt or justice.gov.mt
  • Court case summaries are educational — read the official judgment on ecourts.gov.mt

5. Acceptable Use

You must not use this platform to distribute false or misleading information about the law, violate any applicable law, compromise site security, scrape content automatically without written permission, or use the platform for commercial purposes without authorisation.

6. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by Maltese law, Laws of Malta and its operators shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, or consequential loss arising from your use of this platform, including loss from reliance on AI content, legal errors, or outdated information. The platform is provided as is without warranties of any kind. Users rely on the information provided at their own risk.

7. Intellectual Property

The official text of Maltese law is in the public domain. Summaries, guides, the interface, and original content on this site are the property of Laws of Malta. You may not reproduce or distribute original content without attribution.

8. Governing Law and Jurisdiction

These Terms of Use are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Malta. Any dispute arising from or in connection with these Terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Courts of Malta.
