Malaysian national convicted of importing and trafficking cannabis into Malta under Art. 392B guilty plea — forfeiture of all property ordered

Hew Jun Hui, a 34-year-old Malaysian national, was charged before the Criminal Court with importing cannabis grass into Malta, associating with others to traffic cannabis, and selling or otherwise trafficking the drug. The offences were committed on or around 17 March 2025. He entered a guilty plea under Article 392B of the Criminal Code. All drugs were ordered destroyed once the judgment became final. Full forfeiture of all money and moveable and immoveable property was ordered.
The court found Hew Jun Hui guilty on all counts following an unconditional admission under Art. 392B. The Dangerous Drugs Ordinance (Ch. 101) provides severe penalties for importation and trafficking of controlled substances including cannabis — trafficking carries 9 months to 10 years imprisonment and mandatory forfeiture. The destruction of the exhibited drugs was ordered under the Registrar's supervision with a process verbal to be drawn up. Full asset forfeiture in favour of the Government of Malta was ordered in respect of all money and property of the convicted person.
