Court of Magistrates (Malta) — Criminal · Magistrate Dr. Monica Vella LL.D., M.Jur. · 21 June 2017
On 16 May 2005 at night in Hal-Far, an altercation occurred between the three defendants and Mario Farrugia after a road incident. The defendants damaged Farrugia's Daewoo Racer car (€670 worth of damage) and confronted him. Martin Busuttil stabbed Farrugia with a knife causing slight injuries, and was also found in possession of an unlicensed knife. The court acquitted Olivia Sammut and Gregory Busuttil of all charges, finding insufficient evidence to prove their participation in the specific offences. Martin Busuttil, however, was convicted of the knife-related charges and was released on condition he commits no further offences within one year.
Martin Busuttil: Guilty — released conditionally (no reoffending for 1 year). Gregory Busuttil: Acquitted of all charges. Olivia Sammut: Acquitted of all charges.
