A decade-long court battle over a liquidated company ended with the plaintiff's claims being dismissed. The liquidator was no longer a valid party and the remaining defendants successfully defended the case.
Civil Court (First Hall) · Judge Dr. Doreen Clarke LL.D. · 26 March 2026
This case began in 2016 and involved a dispute connected to Malta Rendezvous Limited, a company that went into liquidation. Angele Calleja brought claims against the liquidator of the company, as well as against Marianna Dzhangirova, Mikhail Dzhangirov and an absent party represented by court-appointed curators. Over the course of the proceedings, the liquidator Benjamin Rizzo was replaced by Alex Agius, and later the case became complicated by the absence of one of the defendants. After years of proceedings, the liquidator was no longer a valid party to the case as his role had ended. The court found that it could not take further cognisance of the exceptions raised by the liquidator since he was no longer a party. On the merits, the court dismissed all of the plaintiff's claims with costs awarded against the plaintiff.
Plaintiff's claims dismissed in full. Costs awarded against plaintiff Angele Calleja.
